HELLO, WE’RE FONTSMATE
We believe choosing type can be a pleasure. We combine design intuition with tools that help you put an idea into practice.
The first Fontsmate helped match hand-picked combinations to a project’s personality. Today we extend that idea with a library, comparisons and practical knowledge. Technology helps explore possibilities; judgment about a particular project stays human.
We show where files come from and include their licenses. We separate verified technical data from editorial opinion. We do not promise a perfect pairing for everyone: we offer tools to find your own.

Migrating all typefaces and content to the new engine.
Adding typography articles and steadily expanding the font library.
Expanding the font and pairing library with family profiles, collections, guides, sources and licensing information.
Developing single-font and pair matching, editable previews, comparisons, favorites, a type scale and character checks.
Adding interface languages and refining accessibility, performance and saved-preference settings.

FONTSMATE / OUR STORY IN PICTURES
From our earliest type specimens to the characters in our matcher. We preserve the original Fontsmate world, including earlier marks, portraits and illustration variants. Some tell the story of the first version of the portal.
